Bat For Lashes, an artist favourite at the Splash Fantastic lair and certainly responsible for wearing down our digital needle, will soon be releasing her new album April 6th. “Two Suns” is a follow up to “Fur and Gold” an album that garnered much critical acclaim and has a fan club including the likes of Thom Yorke and M.I.A.

There are elements in this new album which not only toy with rhythmic synth and ethereal audio-scapes, but something more conceptual in that there is a story building with a constant struggle between opposing concepts and characters (which would explain the album’s title). Bat for Lashes explores realms of art and storytelling with an inherent ease. James and I recently discussed the merits of artist and individuals that have reigns over every aspect of their projects and whether that makes them greater artists or gives more meaning to their works. Bat for Lashes (aka Natasha Khan) with a background in music and visual arts and responsible for multi-media, sound installation, animation and peformance prior to any commercial success wins my vote for artistic merit. DIY has never sounded so sexy! After several rotations I think this is going to be an onion album for me, meaning it will take time to peel back the layers… And I’m sure at some point I’ll cry (sometimes I’m such a girl).
