I was just directed to the recent collaborative effort of two artists who hold a special place in the listening room of my mind. First we have dubstep producer Burial, who for the most part stays off the promotional radar (ie. no photos, few interviews). Burial was the sort of protege of dubstep innovator Kode-9 and has since distinguished himself through his unique take on the genre. Join this individual up with the multi-instrumented artist Four Tet. For the last 10 years Four Tet’s been putting out a solid stream of albums and remixes. His sound is a little more difficult to define as he jumps from electronic to folk, to experimental, to ambient (making him that much awesome…er). I remember a few years back being blown away by Kieran Hebden (aka Four Tet) as he played a live improv set at Broken City with Steve Reid… as in drummer to Mr. James Brown.
Now put these two in a room to create! Thus we have the tracks Wolf Cub & Moth which I must say I’m enjoying quite a bit. Enough talk more music! First one colab track, then a solo track from each.
