Did I get a little carried away with this post slash poster? … yes yes i did.

Okay, so if necessity is the mother of invention then I’m inventions disappointment of a half sister (this is a weird self deprecating way of saying that I’m proud of my nerdy self). So I thought I’d save some money by canceling cable (you know economic woes and all). As of 4 days ago, I was without cable and feeling a little bit of separation anxiety. I thought hey.. I have an Xbox and a DVD player so I’ll just rent more movies and play more games (I know that makes me sound like a teenage boy, but back off). I have Internet, so missing the latest 30 Rock is sort of a non-issue but my one contention is that I like to utilize my couch and my medium screen whilst I learn of who has a classic case of fruit blindness. I did however realize that my Xbox360 had some wireless potential that I was thus far too lazy to tap.

Today seems to be a tech-heavy day!

Here’s a kooky crazy new bit of technology for ya. It’s pretty wonderful how these “cookie sized” mini-computers interact with each other. My first question, are they open source (kinda like the Arduino)? I’d like to get my hands dirty with a bit of code and a few of these. Second, how much? Third, if you could do anything you wanted with these digital building blocks, what kid of unique uses can you come up with?

I know, the acting in the Arduino video is lame. But you’ve gotta admire their willingness to make fools of themselves to make an otherwise dry topic (somewhat) awesome.

I can’t help but feel both nostalgia and wonder each time I see this clever poster set from Mehmet Gozektlik. To think this was the advanced medium for transporting storage not too long ago. Remember those 5 and a quarter inch floppies, with the lock level you’d have to flip on the disk drive? Yeesh.

And with only 1760 disks required to install Sims 3, you’d be immersed in building and destroying cities within a matter of days!
